Our Beginnings

Mike Burke, the founder of KB Landscaping, Inc, first realized his passion for landscaping early on — during a horticulture class in high school. Ever since then, Mike has felt a personal connection and calling to the field. He took his first full-time landscaping position in Raleigh, NC in 1979 after working part-time for a few years in rural Chatham County, NC.

This foreman position at Davidson and Jones Construction Company, a large development and construction company, allowed Mike to learn all aspects of the job and have a hands-on role in projects in several surrounding states. He eventually worked his way up to division manager in the in-house landscape division of the company.

Although the division closed in 1992, this allowed Mike to start his own landscaping business to fulfill the same obligations as the in-house landscaping division. Mike’s wife, Sharon, began using her customer service expertise full-time in 1995 and had a significant hand in growing KB Landscaping, Inc into the established business it is today.
